New ESL Lighting Technology on the way in 2009
Electron-Stimulated Luminescence (ESL) is an entirely new efficient lighting technology being developed by a start-up company called Vu1.
ESL lighting is expected to be an alternative to LED, CFL and old fashioned incandescent bulbs.
ESL ‘bulbs’ use accelerated electrons to excite phosphor coated on the surface to produce light. Working in exactly the same way as an old cathode ray tube TV.
They are claimed to create the same light quality as an incandescent bulb with the benefit of saving energy.
ESL technology can be used in existing light bulb designs so there may be no need to shut down those old incandescent factories just yet.
Vu1′s initial plan is to introduce ESL reflector bulbs, spotlight bulbs and floodlights often used as practical/decorative lighting around the home.

I am an eco-tour operator. I am interested in selling your bulbs in Africa. What is the cost of a unit that would be used in the home or office, what is your production capacity and what is the actual life span of the bulb?
